Foods That Will Win The War And How To Cook Them Goudiss and Goudiss 9781544950693 Books Reviews
This book was written in 1918 when WWII was going on. The information in the book is good for the times we live in now. It gives good recipes and Ideas for saving in the kitchen and I am sure if you follow the book then you will save money.
Super practical and interesting information for anyone, at any time! This is one of the best books on frugal living and I love that it's been reprinted for us to enjoy!
Great ideas on how to use every scrap of food to make meals.
An interesting insight into life on the homefront in WWI. Good advice on cooking without any help from "convenience" foods. I was intrigued to find that much of our most recent dietary advice is actually not new at all.
Really cool, has great facts and strategies that are still useful today. The oat and barley substitutions for the regular bread flour is a really good idea for people that want to start eating healthier.
thoroughly enjoyed this book. It may seem to be out-of-date, but realistically these are ideas that can really be used today. Conservation and health-wise, you can learn a lot from her ideas, even if you are an experienced cook. Although I have not tried any of the recipes, I am intrigued by her clever use of food items that we normally would toss.
Written when the US finally got involved in WW 1 (yes, the war to end all wars lol) this book makes very good use of the available and plentiful materials to make economical and "stretchy" meals to keep people's energy up and save resources to send to the boys "over there". If you are interested in historical cookbooks, this IS the book for you. I read it... and liked it... and better, USE it!
