From start to cliff hanger end, this was a joke! and yet I'm not laughing.************SPOILERS ***** READ OR NOT ***** YOUR CHOICE ******
Father marries a "wealthy widow" after a few days "courtship", finds out she has no money, agrees to leave her for a measly million dollars. daughter meets widow's son ( with all the money) has sex next day, agrees to have baby for MILLIONS!!!! But says, she's not like her father... really? Daughter meets the son's wife (who knew-it's complicated) father finds out daughter got more than he did, and calls her names, step-mom slaps her, for talking back to her father, and yet, daughter does not tear up contract. Here is the best, not even 2 days after having sex, and you find out you are pregnant!!!! Maury, you will have a new couple for your show!!!. Not only not recommending this, don't want to read the follow up.

Ali goes to meet up with her father. He has remarried a widow from an Arabicn country. There she meets her new step-brother, Idris. He happens to be a very powerful Sheikh. With in a short time her father and stepmother were dispensed with. She is inbroiled with Idris in a plot to give him a child. There so much that happened in this first part. It ended in a cliff hanger. This is the first book by Lila Moore that I have read. I will read the next book, due to KU ability. Otherwise might have given it a miss.
Royal arrogant alpha Prince or leader in Dubai, his mother married an American business man, he brought her daughter to Dubai to meet her new step mom and finding out her step brother is the Sheikh. Lots of money being thrown around to end the marriage and for Ali to become the Sheikhs baby momma, talking about 22 million just for her to have his child. All was going good until his wife shows up, yep the Sheikh is married and only been separated for a year, she lives on the other side of the world with her lover.... then her ungrateful father is back threatened Ali and passing the sheikh off. What more could Ali deal with?
SPOILER ALERT CLIFF HANGER STORY
While the author tried to make this a great story, from my point of view, she failed. It's a rather hum drum story. Her father is a jerk who marrys a woman from the middle east, rich, entitled and the widow of a former Sheikh, He has a daughter whom he forces to come to meet the step mother and her step brother, who is now the Sheikh.
He immediately wants for some unknown reason for his step sister to have his baby, ugh. While not blood related they are by marriage. She falls into the idea and they go at it like rabbits. She gets knocked up and the story ends on that note. It all very shallow.
The author doesn't develop the plot and there is something very unsavory about the all the characters, from the greedy father to the already married Sheikh, step brother to the step mother.
First of all this was a free book, but I still expected more from it. I did not know it was part one of however many until I got to the "end." It said it was book one, not part one. So that was very frustrating. Secondly the entire book takes place in approximately 3-4 days. Spoiler Alert Did you know that according to the author you can apparently not only get pregnant but also take an accurate pregnancy test approximately 2 days after having sex? I mean I know romance novels are not exactly known for being realistic but this was extremely bad. I mean there was no character development at all, and frankly the female lead had no depth. There was nothing to like about her, and oddly nothing to dislike really except that there was literally nothing to her! So I do not recommend this book at all. I was very disappointed.
I tend not to get drawn into what I know will end in a cliffhanger, especially one that clocks in at 94 pages, but I could not resist that book cover and, since I haven’t read anything dealing with a sheik since Connie Mason’s The Sheik, I caved. Why? To me it’s the fascination of a forbidden romance, West meets Eastern cultural differences, and the allure of all those Arabian Nights stories I use to read as a kid. Throw in a Cinderella-like story with royalty, and it has all the makings of a Disney princess story on steroids.
What I liked about My Stepbrother The Sheik-- Idris seems sincere for the most part, I think there’s more to his motivation than we get in this first installment, but so far I’m not hating him. He treats Ali with respect and his actions are one who is amused by a new lover who presents a bit of a challenge.
Plot --But I can’t, for the life of me, reason out why his mother picks an American woman for him. See, she marries an aggressive, selfish businessman whose dealings are shady, and he himself is superficial. But he has a daughter that he doesn’t much care for, abandoned Ali and her mother early in that marriage, except now he finds a big payout by bringing her into this contrived family situation in Dubai. *scratches head*
Idris has a hot, smoking body, a powerful man who demands loyalty, cares for his family, but he’s conflicted over his sense of duty.
I like how the author gives Ali’s character some integrity and self-worth.
What I didn’t like about My Stepbrother The Sheik -- Written in Ali’s POV we don’t much get a clue why Idris accepts his mother’s manipulations. Idris explains he needs an heir to secure his financial and political position as the new Sheik, but why an American? Doesn’t he have a harem? And many wives?
Ali presents some hesitation, and concerns, but pretty much goes along with the plan. There’s sex, but not much chemistry between these two. She is naïve and too accepting of the situation she is in. She’s acting like a TSTL. (Too Stupid To Live)
Characters are a bit one-dimensional and very little dialogue between the two.
There’s a cliffhanger, and yes, Ali’s asked to take a pregnancy test. So. What do you think happens? And, the current witch of a wife shows up.
All in all, an intriguing story, but we need more characterization. Good twist at the end of this part. Why can’t the wife get pregnant? Does Ali become a mistress or wife? Hope the next installment reveals more.
